A&W and the Fire Station

Today, Jack and Auntie Katie were anticipating our trip to the fire station. Jack likes big trucks, so we thought it would be a fun adventure.
But first, we headed off to A&W for some (almost) all American food. Jack ordered Corn Dog Nuggets. I think he just liked the word because he wouldn't touch them. He did, however enjoy my french fries, dipped in apple sauce. Don't ask me why, but he really liked that. The A&W in Middlebury is an old-fashioned car-hop stand, by the way. Jack really enjoyed sitting in the front seat while we ate. He discovered how to turn on my wipers, and got french fry grease all over the windshield.
After that, we had a little bit of time before the fire station, so we went off to the playground to burn off a little bit of energy. I think we might have burned off too much because Jack was yawning and mumbling by the time we left.
We drove to the fire station, and pulled in as they had all of the fire trucks lined up out front. Unfortunately, they were headed for a training, so we didn't get to climb up in them, but we did get to see them for a minute, and then watch them pull away. That may have been enough. I mean, Jack was pretty tired at that point. Laying his head on my shoulder and babbling incoherently... must be all the running around. We did see the smaller truck, though, which is more for brush fires and such. It's a 4x4 pickup, so it can go where the bigger trucks can't, but it can hold 600 gallons of water!
We got to see the fireman's uniforms, and their flashlights, which all plug in right in a row to a big wall charger.
Jack got a plastic fire helmet and a sticker that says I Went to the Fire Station, or something like that. By the time we got back to Grammy's house, Jack was ready for a PB&J and bed! Well, at least I think bed, he seemed pretty tired to me, so hopefully he went right down.
And that was our afternoon.
Thanks for reading!
